What are the maintenance guidelines for artificial turf? Artificial turf looks and performs very similar to real grass. It is wear-resistant, UV-resistant, age-resistant, and easy to maintain. However, artificial turf is used outdoors, exposed to the sun and rain for extended periods, and is frequently used in complex and diverse environments, which will inevitably take its toll. What are the key points to keep in mind when using artificial turf? What are the maintenance guidelines for artificial turf?

1. Keep artificial turf clean

Generally, airborne dust particles do not require cleaning; natural rainwater can wash them away. However, for sports venues, this ideal condition is rarely achieved. Therefore, it is important to promptly clean the turf from debris, such as fruit peels, paper scraps, fruits, and beverages. Light debris can be removed with a vacuum cleaner, while larger debris can be removed with a brush. Stains should be treated with a liquid solution containing the appropriate ingredients and then rinsed quickly with water. Avoid using random detergents.

2. Fireworks can damage the turf and pose a safety hazard

Although most artificial turf surfaces today are flame-retardant, it's inevitable that some surfaces may be substandard and pose safety risks. Furthermore, while artificial turf won't burn when exposed to flames, high temperatures, especially those caused by open flames, can melt the turf and damage the surface.

3. Control the pressure per unit area

Do not allow vehicles to pass through artificial turf, and parking and stacking of items are prohibited. While artificial turf has its own inherent uprightness and resilience, excessive weight or prolonged use can also damage the turf. Sports requiring sharp equipment, such as javelin throwing, should not be used on artificial turf surfaces. Shoes with long spikes are prohibited during football matches; round spikes and scissor-shaped spikes are recommended instead. High heels are also prohibited.

4. Control the frequency of use

While artificial turf can be used frequently, it cannot withstand continuous high-intensity exercise. This depends on the specific conditions of use, especially after intense exercise, where the surface requires a period of rest. For example, artificial turf soccer fields should typically host no more than four official matches per week.

Following these precautions during daily use can not only maintain the optimal performance of the artificial turf field but also extend its lifespan. Additionally, during periods of low usage, the field can be inspected. While most damage is minor, timely repairs are crucial to prevent further problems.
